Web standards are constantly evolving, and web server operating systems go out of extended support and stop getting security updates and patches. Applications become out of date and no longer meet changing business requirements. Changes to connected systems introduce bugs, and performance gradually degrades as hard drives and databases fill up.

To keep your business running smoothly, and complying with all the latest security standards and privacy legislation, you need a plan to maintain your web applications. It is often more efficient and less disruptive to adopt a policy of continual gradual improvement, but sometimes a large program of urgent change is required to respond to changing legislation or software expiry dates.
